Uniting Against Arthritis

Key Insights from Secondary Research

In 2022, an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) survey found that 22.5% of adults in India have arthritis.

Managing arthritis effectively is crucial to maintain a good quality of life.

Poorly managing arthritis can lead to a worsening of symptoms and overall health deterioration.

Addresses the challenges of living with arthritis by creating a supportive online community to help individuals manage their condition effectively and reduce feelings of isolation.

Initial problem discovery?

What problem am I trying to solve?

Arthritis significantly impacts patients' lives, causing chronic pain, stiffness, and mobility limitations that disrupt daily routines.

Challenges include limited access to care, managing medication side effects, and the high cost of treatment, particularly for those in underserved areas.

Let’s understand few things first

Problem Validation

Let’s define the problem to have a better understanding!

Arthritis not only causes physical limitations but also significantly impacts emotional well-being.

Chronic pain and reduced mobility can lead to feelings of isolation, depression, and anxiety, further diminishing quality of life for individuals living with the condition.

To better understand our users, let's create user personas that represent their needs, behaviors, and motivations.

UX RESEARCH METHOD 03: HOW MIGHT WE

How am I going to address the problem spaces in my designs?

Patients require ongoing encouragement to adhere to treatment plans and maintain a positive outlook, especially given the chronic nature of the condition.

  • Mobility restrictions: It can lead to feelings of dependency, which significantly impacts patients' self-esteem and emotional well-being.

  • The 'Invisible' Nature of Pain Creates Isolation: The discrepancy between a patient's seemingly normal outward appearance and their internal experience of severe pain often leads to feelings of isolation and a perceived lack of empathy from others.

  • Management: Consistently addressing arthritis symptoms and limitations is not merely about pain relief; it's about preserving mobility, independence, and overall quality of life, enabling patients to engage fully in life."

Structuring the User Experience

It's the underlying framework that supports all the content and design elements. Think of it as the bones of the website, defining how information is organized and presented.

A well-defined skeleton ensures clear navigation, logical content flow, and a solid foundation for a user-friendly experience.

Thought behind the UI

The UI design for this arthritis management and blog sharing platform is rooted in a user-centered philosophy, prioritizing intuitive navigation.

This approach allows users to quickly engage with core features, such as symptom tracking and blog sharing, without feeling overwhelmed.

Recognizing that many users are already familiar with social media platforms, we drew inspiration from Instagram's interface, applying Jakob's Law to minimize the learning curve.
